ASTEROID
Heavy Prog • Sweden

Asteroid biography
After some explosive jam sessions in the winter of 2003/04, bassist/organist Johannes NILSSON, guitarist/organist Robin HERSE and drummer Martin 'Elvis 47' began writing original material, and in 2005 released 'EP-05'. The trio toured Norway and their native Sweden, soon developing a reputation as an outstanding live act that churned out the hard prog/space with conviction and feeling. Evoking everyone from HAWKWIND, SABBATH, IRON BUTTERFLY, early RUSH, and even the DOORS, these Swedes do it with unrelenting dirtiness.
Fuzzorama Records soon took interest and released a joint effort between ASTEROID and heavy fuzzers BLOWBACK in 2006 which attracted excellent notice. In 2007 the band finally released their debut, touring the U.K., Finland and Germany.
'Stoner rock' in the finest sense but without any drugged-out malaise and much more prog tendencies, ASTEROID are doing top quality vintage stuff that will surely please fans of MAMMATUS, HIGH TIDE, and NECROMANDUS.
