Opus Tide biography
OPUS TIDE is based in and around South London/Great Britain and consists of Lewis Turner (guitar, bass) and Dan Shooter (drums). Both started to form an original band orientated towards the heavier side of progressive music in 2004. After an initial meeting in the summer '04 the two began to work on expanding their ideas each had been developing.

Turner had a wealth of melodic and riff-based material and along with percussive and melodic input from Shooter things started to take shape. The search then started for other kindred spirits and finally a bass player was procured immediately in the form of Venezuelan Celestino Marin. The trio then carried on with intentions of adding a full time keyboard player and also a vocalist. But this search, however, proved to be somewhat more frustrating for them. So they decided that the only way to achieve the first album was to jump-in at the deep-end and to buy all the equipment necessary working out the synth tracks on their own.

The bulk of the recording for the debut album 'Open The Gates' was accomplished in October '06, within a limited time span of only four days. Unfortunately Celestino had to return home unexpectedly to his native Venezuela on the eve of the recordings for an indefinite time and this hampered the proceedings for some months. Dave Troke, head bass teacher and colleague to Turner at the Southampton Institute Of Music and Sound, substituted him halfway with two songs and for the rest Turner occupied this task. Virtuoso guitar and drum playing is guaranteed when listening to 'Open The Gates'. Influenced by 70's prog the band members are making music which is alternating between metal and heavy - also provided with some fusion elements and synth samples.

Dan Shooter is also involved with 'Fusion Orchestra II' together with lead guitarist Colin Dawson, being the only original member. This reformation of the early 70's band 'Fusion Orchestra' is ressurecting their only album 'Skeleton In Armour' with a view to performing it in it's entirety along with new material.
