Apse biography
APSE is a band from Newtown, Connecticut formed in 1999 as a three-piece while the members were still in high school Bobby Toher (guitar), Ezer Lictenstein (drums) and Ryan Todd (bass). The group made purely instrumental ambient rock until about 2003, when Bobby decided to lead the band on vocals.

The line-up expanded over the years and by 2005, APSE was signed to Spain's Acuarela Discos to record and release its self-titled EP.

While shuffling the line-up, the group moved away from the usual trappings of "post rock" territory to write and record their debut full-length album "Spirit" which would be released in 2006. They toured extensively throughout Europe and further line-up changes took place over the course of the next two years. The band also signed a deal with ATP Recordings, which gave "Spirit" a wider re-release in 2008.

The band released a very limited edition (500 copies) Vinyl LP titled "Eras" in February of 2009.

APSE currently consists of Bobby Toher (vocals), Michael Gundlach (guitar), John Mordecai (bass), Jed Armour (guitar) and Brandon Collins (drums). They released their third full length album ?Climb Up? in October/November of 2009.

APSE since the early '00s, recorded output has been staunchly self-produced, largely in the members' own homes with consumer-level equipment. As of the summer of 2009, ten years since its inception, the band has yet to embark on a proper tour of their home country.

WHY THIS BAND IS IN THE ARCHIVES:

APSE despite their early beginnings in post rock they began exploring and became much more experimental by their "Spirit" album. Each release is significantly different and they mix ambience, sludge, psychedelic with tribal rhythms. They were approved by the Prog Metal Team and are very highly recommended to all fans of progressive music.
