Südstern 44 biography
SÜDSTERN 44 were formed around Julius-K (guitars), Silke Fugmann aka 'Elli Popelli' (bass, vocals), Walt Jahn (djembe, drums) and Dave Schmidt aka 'Sula Bassana' (guitar, drums, synth) as a side project of ZONE SIX in early 2000s.

Despite sailing out for psychedelic/space rock their musical attitude also encloses a significant post-rock flavour. SÜDSTERN 44 released a CD-R 'The Dampfwalze' in 2006 via Dave's own Sulatron Records label, recorded during a long jam session in 2004. And in the following year they could offer their eponymous debut album on German psychedelic/stoner rock label Nasoni Records. After these releases SÜDSTERN 44 have been slightly active only with changing members more coloured as Julius' solo project.
