Torngat biography
Torngat
Torngat is a Post-Rock trio issued from Montréal?s musical community. This band consists of a drummer, a keyboardist and a French horn player, even if Julien Poissant (drums) plays a lot of other instruments on the albums.
This band has an overall Post-Rock sound; they could be described as happier if compared to other bands in the same genre. Their music is inspired, joyful and unique.
The members of the band started making music together in the late nineties. Since then, they released three albums named Torngat, You Could Be and La petite Nicole. They also released an EP, La Rouge. All of these releases can be found on an independent label from Montréal and were acclaimed critically. I would strongly recommend this band to people who love Post-Rock with an experimental approach, like Bell Orchestre. By the way, Pietro Amato (French horn) is a member of Bell Orchestre and an ancient member of Arcade Fire. I suggest La petite Nicole to begin with, since I consider it their best, but You Could Be is also great
Members:
- Julien Poissant / Drums, percussions, trumpet, Wurlitzer, guitars
- Mathieu Charbonneau / Keyboards, percussions
- Pietro Amato / French horn, percussions, Wurlitzer
Discography:
- Torngat (2003)
- La Rouge (EP) (2004)
- You Could Be (2005)
- La petite Nicole (2007)
