Ironwood biography
Ironwood is an ambitious folk metal band based in Sydney, Australia. Ironwood form their music around simple acoustics, melancholic vocals and a healthy dose of heavier guitar work. Ironwood's conceptual focus falls heavily upon the spirituality of nature and pagan ideology, whilst confidently mixing several eclectic musical styles even over the course of a single composition. Lyrically cryptic by the band's own admission, Ironwood's lyrical content will appeal to any listener interested in Norse, Germanic and indeed heathen mythology. Amidst the melancholy and simplicity of neofolk acoustics, Ironwood are apt to fuse growled vocals with harsher, faster tempos to create multi-layered and relatively complex compositions. The sheer variety and eclectic nature of Ironwood's style alone warrants interest from fans of neofolk, progressive metal and even black metal.

In 2007, the band released their debut self titled EP, Ironwood, followed in 2009 by their first full studio album :Fire:Water:Ash: - acclaimed by many as a dark synthesis of spiritual and intellegent metal. Ironwood are currently in the process of recording their second full length release, entitled Storm Over Sea, the album is due to be released in early 2010.
