Ostrova biography
OSTROVA are a young post metal band from Logroño, Rioja, Spain. They self-released their debut self-titled EP in 2009.
OSTROVA's music is interestingly full of lots of contrasting moods and styles. Though most notably based in bright post-rock, the band utilizes a lot of heavy passages and hardcore/screamo-style vocals to give their music almost a bipolar sort of quality. At times their work sounds reminiscent of the uplifting, minimalist textural work of Canadian post-rockers GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR, other passages remind of the dark, brooding heaviness of post-metal giants CULT OF LUNA and ISIS. Throw in occasional bursts of Spanish guitar and some of the more rocking moments of EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY and what we have in OSTROVA is a confident young act with a lot of promise.
