Klever biography
KLEVER are a Russian post-rock / psychedelic band from St.Petersburg active in the mid '00s and consisting of guitarist Sergey Makovka, multi-instrumentalist Zmitser Goltsman and drummer/percussionist Denis Rusakov. They have released an EP in 2003 and a full studio album in 2005. Their music is a very eclectic mix of classic post rock (slow guitar-lead crescendos) and modern psychedelic rock with pulsating beats, leading to a original kind of song structure. The essential feature is the rich sound provided by multi-insturmentalist Zmitser Goltsman: the violin hints to violin-lead post rock like GY!BE, A SILVER MT. ZION or DIRTY THREE, the clarinets can be very jazzy and the folky flute, pan flute, ocarina and harmonica hint (especially in combination with the psychdelic beats) to psychedelic / world fusion bands like HIDRIA SPACEFOLK, TÜNDÉRGROUND, DJABE or OZRIC TENTACLES. A unique bouquet of experimental sounds for sure.
