Syderal Overdrive biography
SYDERAL OVERDRIVE is a progressive metal band from Udine, Italy. The band officially took shape in 2009, following a project created by Vincenzo DI FRANCESCO (keys and synths) and Alessandro CHERICI (guitar) in 2006 and a series of line-up changes. During its course, the band has abandoned the typical rock/hard rock patterns and moved towards more progressive structures; their sound was established with the arrival of lead singer Nicola BASSI in summer 2010. The band also consists of Matteo PINNA (guitar), Alessio ZORATTO (bass), Marco COLONNA (drums & percussions) and Francesca ANTONUTTI (backing & additional vocals). Their first album, a concept titled "The Trick of Life" was released in November 2011, and according to the band, "it's a real "drama", presented in a prologue and four acts, that tells the story of a man and his fall and journey into the deepest darkness of life".
SYDERAL OVERDRIVE refer to modern (PORCUPINE TREE, TOOL, DREAM THEATER, SPOCK'S BEARD, AYREON, SYMPHONY X, LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT, NEAL MORSE) as well as classic bands (PINK FLOYD, GENESIS, RUSH, GENTLE GIANT, KING CRIMSON, MARILLION, FRANK ZAPPA, BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO, PFM, THE WHO, DEEP PURPLE, QUEEN) as their influences. Their sound presents an interesting mix of progressive metal with symphonic prog and it is recommended to bands of the above bands.
