Zalem biography
ZALEM is a post rock quartet from Angers, France, consisting of O.Le Turdu, C.Guerin, A.Gerzé and J.P Vial. The band was been established in 2006, recorded its first demo tracks in 2007 and released its debut album στίγμα (Stigma) in late 2011, after a long wait.

Musically, ZALEM build upon the classic post rock sound based on electric guitar crescendos over carefully crafted ambiental soundscapes (GY!BE, ASMtZ, THIS WILL DESTROY YOU). The sound and style are brought up to date with a stronger emphasis on distorted guitars, metallic edge and moments of dense interplay with a post-hardcore influence (RUSSIAN CIRCLES, VESSELS, UP THERE: THE CLOUDS). The mood is always melancholic and introspective, sometimes explosive. Field sounds, spoken words (in French), gentle percussives, piano, strings and occasional extreme vocals come to enrich the ambitious stylistic identity of ZALEM's music.
