Activities Of Dust biography
ACTIVITIES OF DUST is a project by drummer Doug Scharin (REX, JUNE OF 44, etc.) who released its sole album A New Mind in 2008. The album is a result of hours of recorded feedback done over a period of years. Jeff Parker (TORTOISE, etc.) interpreted and reacted to the feedback with his guitar playing. Later Scharin added his drums and
legendary producer/remixer Bill Laswell (also leader of MATERIAL) added his bass playing. Classically-trained Bernie Worrell (best known as the keyboardist for the bands FUNKADELIC and PARLIAMENT, as well as touring with the TALKING HEADS) added his keyboards as well. Doug wanted the music to be random sounding. Ultimately the end result is a unique mix of post-rock, ambient and fusion.
