Sleepers Awake biography
SLEEPERS AWAKE is a progressive metal band, formed in Columbus, Ohio, USA in 2005 by friends Rob BRADLEY (lead guitar) and Chris THOMPSON (vocals, guitar). Shortly after, Rob?s brother Joey BRADLEY initially picked up the bass duties and Dan BILBREY the drums, before being replaced by Eric GREY still during 2005. With this composition, the band recorded their first demo EP ''Werdegang'' at Moo Pigface Studios with Dan Boyd. In the summer of 2008, drummer Chris BURNSIDES (UNKNOWN ORIGIN, ONE EYE WITNESS) replaced GREY and the band began to prepare for their full debut. With a solid line-up, they recorded ''Priests of the Fire'' with Joe Viers (NEIL ZAZA, BOBAFLEX etc.) at Sonic Lounge Studios, which was self-released in 2009. 2010 saw the replacement of Joey BRADLEY with Kedar HIREMATH on bass and it was with this line-up that the band recorded and self-released ''Transcension'' in 2012, working again with Joe Viers.

Although self-promoted as 'progressive metal', SLEEPERS AWAKE mix this with post-metal, alternative, sludge and doom to create a very heavy but simultaneously groovy and catchy sound in the vein of MASTODON and TOOL, citing also influences from bands such as BARONESS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, OPETH and QUEEN. Recommended to fans of groovy progressive metal.
