James Van Cleaf biography
James VAN CLEAF began his musical endeavors by taking up the bass guitar during July of 2009 and guitar in 2010. With a vast range of influences ranging from numerous sub-genres of metal (prog, death, groove, thrash, black) to classical, jazz, film soundtracks and classic prog rock, James VAN CLEAF began recording as an artist in February of 2012 utilizing his bedroom studio. Still a teenager, his self-produced material is crisp and well polished sound-wise to a level comparable to signed label acts. Based in Newark, Delaware, his instrumental music takes an almost cinematic and sometimes symphonic approach to metal music while incorporating plenty of technically suave rhythms and guitar solos. Fans of BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and TESSERACT may find much to enjoy here. Currently he has released a single (''Candle''), a collection of demo tracks, an EP (''Energy'') and a full length album entitled ''The Soul Imprisoned''.
