Protean Collective biography
Founded in 2005, Boston Massachusetts-based act PROTEAN COLLECTIVE began as a heavy progressive rock band, releasing their first self-titled LP in 2006. In 2007 they released their followup album ''Once Mechanical'' which incorporated a darker sound to their music. After a line-up change in which a new bass player was added, the band released the album ''Divided'' in 2010, which took the band into heavier progressive metal territory. In January of 2014, ''The Red And The Grey'' was released, emphasizing their continued evolution into a heavier progressive metal act while retaining strong melodies and a smooth, clean vocal approach. Possessing strong technical skills and high quality guitar leads, the band's influences range from MASTODON, PORCUPINE TREE and MESHUGGAH to RUSH and KING CRIMSON.

Currently the band consists of Graham BACHER on vocals and guitar, Steph GOYER on guitar and vocals, Dan EHRAMJIAN on bass and vocals, and Matt ZAPPA on drums.
