5 stars Diamanda Galas is singer and musician, if you ever heard her you will never forget. Her music is somewhere in the other side of our traditional understanding about what is good/bad music.

"Malediction and Prayer" formaly is live recording, because it was recorded in small auditorium with few people, you can hear their applauses time to time. In all other aspects it's studio album, recorded just at once, without overdubing, with all improvistaions from live recording.

The music is actually ... hm, the avant-blues. And avant-folk, and avant-world as well. It's difficult to make any definition. It's just piano and voice, and emotions, but not usual lyrical nuances. It's nerves, hysteria, pain, it's flesh and blood. I am sure that you will be shocked starting from very first song and will stay in that shock till the end.

Bigger part of you just will push "StoP" button and will change this CD to something more comfortable, but some will be hypnotised by Diamandas magic power. This music is not for late summer evening near lake, no way. Quite often you will feel , that it's not just piano and just voce, but it's like something is playing on the strings of your nerves. Adrenalizing, but never very pleasant feeling.

Diamanda has fans all around the world. I think it just people with similar emotive vision of outside world. You can be or can be not between them. Who knows, but you can try

PS I recommend for new listeners start from "The Thrill Is Gone"song from this album. You know this B.B. King classics for sure, so you will be able just to compare Diamandas version. After you will decide is it possible to continue with all album, or better just to make a little walk to nearest park and try to relax in a fresh air.
