5 stars Certainly a great revelation, each time when having another try. Just an exciting album with a contemporary eclectic jazz taste. This is on the bench for quite a time, but I never felt to reach for a final assessment. Until now, that's a real breakthrough, yeah. Maybe others are experiencing that too in one way or another. Some things take a long time to mature. Adrian Chivers and Daniel Pennie are an experimental duo with passion, composers as well as multi-instrumentalists, hailing from the United Kingdom. They have formed an illustrious unity of musicians to fulfill their requirements, just let me highlight the almighty Keith Tippett and Michael Giles. Both already have been underway In The Wake Of Poseidon for example, decades ago. Cinematic, melancholic, partially even delivering a doomy flair, you will detect mostly atmospheric downtempo stuff. Proper chamber music expression as well, due to the involvement of acoustic piano, upright bass, violin and cello.

Sure, there are some leanings to avantgarde music available here, but overall this is too melodic and accessible anyway. That means nearly 60 minutes of sheer beauty in direct access. A real treat, fantastic electric guitars in manifold incarnations. Trumpet and saxophone swirling around everywhere. Subtle but very effective percussion communication. Celestial female voices and pearling piano lines are taking turn. Exemplarily, Limits Of Control is surely swinging out of limits. Unbelievable spirit! Who is fascinated by that special Rain Tree Crow or Morpheus Project flavour, you're on the right track here too. Not a copy-case, to make it clear, but a suitable connecting adapter in some way regarding atmosphere and prolificness. My advice, be careful and pay attention when you're touching the water! Every time this leaves me completely overwhelmed. A true masterpiece.
