3 stars "Inner Firmaments Decay" is the debut full-length studio album by US progressive rock act Al Over Everywhere. The album was released through Emkog Records in August 2010. All Over Everywhere ws formed by Trinna Kesner (guitars, viola, violin) and Dan Britton (keyboards, guitars). The latter is relatively prolific on the US progressive rock scene bring involved in artists like Cerebus Effect, and Deluge Grander, and Birds and Buildings, but All Over Everywhere is predominantly Kesnerīs project. A diverse cast of musicians contribute to the album. Some of them are also involved in other of Brittonīs projects (Megan Wheatley, Pat Gaffney, and Brian Falkowski).

Stylistically the material is 70s influenced progressive rock with folk rock influences. Itīs an ambient and atmospheric album featuring few drum parts. Instead the music flows along with pleasant and often subdued female vocals, vintage keyboards, and use of classical music instruments like cello, viola, violin, vibes, oboe, flute, and clarinet. Itīs music focused on emotions and atmospheres rather than technical playing and labyrinth song structures.

While this may first and foremost be a Kesner project, Brittonīs touch is felt all the way to the bones of the album. His distinct sounding production touch, which includes low in the mix vocals and an old school analogue production style, is there and accounted for. Itīs not the most professional sounding production job Iīve heard, but it suits the music pretty well. If I was to compare "Inner Firmaments Decay" with Brittonīs other work it would be to Deluge Granderīs third full-length studio album "Heliotians" (2014), which features some of the same musical elements as this release, and itīs fans of "Heliotians" (2014), rather than fans of Brittonīs work with Cerebus Effect and Birds and Buildings, who are recommended to take a listen. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
