Have to give a massive shout out to Garage Ink. One of the best examples of how to do a covers album right. The first half of this compilation is studio recordings of covers, showing off a very wide range of influences. The band are able to add their own style perfectly to these songs without insulting the artists themselves. The second disc is a collection of their covers from the start of their career, and again it's a perfect amalgamation of showing off influence and progression of their own style throughout the years. If you want a list of good bands or artists to get into, then checking out the original artists is a great idea.
