3 stars I'm surprised that there are no other ratings or reviews from this Gentle Giant compilation.

The cover alone is worth the price. It shows the familiar Giant logo, with a safety pin in his nose. I take it as a comment about the times (1977). Know-nothing music journalists were calling progressive rock bands "pretentious". But these bands had the talent to play their music. Most punk bands, on the other hand, were basically talentless posers. Who were the pretentious ones?

This collection (the second Gentle Giant album I owned, after "Three Friends", covers the first six albums, from "Gentle Giant" through "The Power And The Glory". While the selection is a bit heavy on the latter album (a quarter of the collection is from this one record), it still manages to contain a good cross section of GG's work.

Still, I would recommend the complete albums over this collection, and the CD "The Edge Of Twilight" is a much more complete compilation.
