4 stars 'After the Night Falls' is similar in a lot of ways to the 'Cocteau Twins' "Victorialand"album minus the ethereal vocals of Liz Frazer. Huge reverb is used on guitars and piano throughout this dreamy album which floats along like Moses in his little box streaming down the river Nile.

Both this and 'Before the Day Breaks' are absolutely identical and should have been released as a double album. There's nothing surprising to any listeners who have heard any albums by these composers before. You get what you pay for... Beauty and late night listening where, no matter the volume, you won't annoy even the smallest mouse that may be gnawing its way through a bag of crisps on your floor as you try desperately to get to sleep with bad thoughts going through your head...

As usual with all 'Budd' albums he appears to dominate proceedings despite his non intrusive persona and quietness. An exquisitely beautiful album which is vocal free, beatless and extremely melodic.

If you're a fan of French composer Erik Satie, you'll love this.

The only downside is that it can be a bit miserable if you're not in a good frame of mind... like me...
