5 stars I considered the warning about posting five stars. I was glad to be reminded as they shouldn't be bestowed lightly, but this Hawk offering does indeed warrant a five star rating! I'll admit that this isn't an in your face affair; its almost laconic in its delivery, but by God there are some true gems on here. M.R James, the Victorian ghost writer entertained us with 'A Warning to the Curious', just as Bob Calvert has with the opener to this album! Yes, Hawkwind and ganja go hand in hand and the irony of his lyrics couldn't have gone amiss with Reefer Madness. Next, Steppenwolf is an escalating prog masterpiece; the violin sections are sublime and Calverts Germanic outbursts combine to make (IMHO) Hawkwind most provocative offering EVER. There are two instrumental gems on here; the best being Chronoglide Skyway. I can't describe in words its beauty, I don't have the vocab; but all I can say is fill the bong, light, toke and say goodbye!!! Hawkwind for me will always remain a defining adolescent moment, one where I realised that music can truly be life changing. I'm well into my 30's now and every antidisestablishmentarianism thought I ever harboured, and still do vehemently, is all down to this bunch of guys! Dave Brock is.....well, sits alongside Buddha!!!
