5 stars I learned to smoke weed listening to this album (I'm not advocating it, just giving some history!), over, and over, and over some 20 odd years ago. Its kind of burnt into my soul. We all have those 'defining albums' in our lives, this was mine - and I'm proud to associate myself with it. Its edgy, wordy, fierce, sci-fi, big brother, intense on one hand and mellow, soothing, uplifting, and calming on the other and lots more in between :-) I don't know why it gets such scant attention amongst the other Hawkwind albums - maybe its too eclectic a mix for most - but it surely is among their best. Trust me, get it - no Hawkwind collection has even started, let alone be complete without it. Streets of Fear and Sonic Attck - so harsh and basic, Rocky paths, Virgin of the World - so mellow and complex (well its all pretty basic in musical terms but as a piece of art its pretty complex). Its definitive Hawkwind, to me at least :-) In my top ten albums of all time, ever, by anyone, this is number 1 (and 2 and 3) cause nothing else comes close. Of course, its hard to find anything that wasn't seminal during those 'teenager just disocvered weed' years...

If I could shake their hands one last time, I'd be saying "Thanks for Sonic Attack" as I did it.
