4 stars "The Bruford Tapes" comes from more than one My Father's Place show (if I recall correctly, Bruford did two shows per night, and played more than one night at MFP on that tour). The performances from the WLIR broadcast included on the album are 'Fainting In Coils', 'Travels with Myself', Beelzebub, Sahara of Snow, and One of a Kind. (some are cut short on the LP, but were full-length on the WLIR broadcast). "Hell's Bells', 'Sample and Hold' and '5G' are from a different show than the one broadcast. If you can track down a copy of the WLIR show -- which has been in collector circulation for years -- it's worth it to hear those versions , especially 'Hell's Bells', which I think is superior to the one chosen for the album. The broadcast also included an early, work-in-progress version of 'Joe Frazier', a scorching John Clark performance on 'Forever Until Sunday' ; as well as a performance of 'Adios a La Posada'.
