3 stars "Houston, we have liftoff". This was the start of a wild, wacky, tripped-out journey that continues through to this day. Unfortunatley, this start doesn' t really move me much. I have always thougt that this effort is REALLY dated, even by Hawkwind standards, and is quite boring in many places. Much of this album seems thrown together and not really finished, which I suppose it actually was. Places on this remind me of Krautrock or Zuehl. Overall, a fine start but not even near to what they would attain within a few albums and years. Reminds me of how Pink Floyd tooks a few stabs before hitting gold. Hawkwind followed much the same path. Good for tripping out but not essential for tripping out, 3 stars
