3 stars I really can't join in in the massive hype about this album. The singing is too poetically pretentious and the words are in my opinion a bit stereotype clichés, or at least that's the impression I get. Most of you don't speak Swedish anyway, so this is maybe an unfair thing to point out (because many of you probably would enjoy the words). I'm glad though that most of the album is instrumental, because there are really nice parts here. The album that followed this one, "Epilog", is all instrumental and I think that one is better than "Hybris". Many have already written about the melancholic feeling in this music, the musical virtuosity and the "retro-prog style". In this I fully agree, but I think though that there is a big portion of originality here and it also has a live feeling to it. I give the album another half star for this, in addition to the three in the rating.
