5 stars If I were to judge this album by the amount of innovation, or of the strength of its "influence", we would be looking at good solid 2 stars.

The musicianship, the compositions' and the soundscapes' quality easily hit the 4-star level, if not half a notch higher. Things just can't go wrong with Bruford, Holdsworth and The Team. Well, that's not 100% correct in general, but certainly true for this album.

But the real value of One Of A Kind is that it's free from blunders, hiccups and irritants; it's just 23 minutes of smoothly flowing, uninterrupted joy on Side A, followed by another 23 minutes of the same on Side B.

Which, I suppose, trumps everything else, because music is for enjoyment, not for over-analyzing :) --5 stars.
