4 stars A rather good but strange collection...

Another compilation of Tangerine Dream. "The Collection" is focused on the 1970-1973 period, from the experimental psychedelic beginning of the band to the inclusion of electronic sequencer cosmic pieces, and features tracks from their first studio opuses: "Electronic Meditation", "Alpha Centauri", "Zeit", "Atem", plus the controversial "Green Desert", remixed and released in 1986.

The version of "White Clouds" is a little different than the one that can be found on the "Green Desert" album. This track is a little odd at the end of this compilation, as compared to the other tracks, rather in a "kozmische" tone.

I give 4 stars for the 2CD box set, and 3.5 for the original 1CD edition. Recommended for an overview of TD's debut, but then be sure to go quickly for the real studio albums!
