SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Honorary Collaborator / Band Submissions
3 stars 'Trip in Time' is the moniker for several people in Germany who have the intention to support the psychedelic rock genre in general and therefore especially bands which don't want to go down into mainstream. On one side concerts were organized for example the 'Trip In Time' festival 2006 where the band OBSKURIA was born as a spontaneous collaboration of musicians which recorded the very interesting album 'Discovery of Obskuria'. On the other hand special samplers were arranged with contributions of known but also relatively unknown bands - from Germany but also from all over the world. Now this is the first release of this series, published in 2006 by the World in Sound label. A good mix of bands with different styles sometimes rather heavy, sometimes trippy, spacey with jam character. And first of all there is to point out: the majority of the songs was unreleased when this compilation was published.

Swedish SIENA ROOT is starting off representing the heavier side of the compilation with the slow groover Mountain II here with the former fantastic female vocalist Sanya. VIBRAVOID's hypnotic CAN cover Mother Sky and Eterna Ascencion from the peruvian LA IRA DE DIOS which are performing a special Stoner Psych Rock are nearly in the same vein. TREACLE PEOPLE with Winnie Rimbach-Sator (organ) delivers an interesting 15 minute live interpretation of PINK FLOYD's epic Atom Heart Mother on the other hand. LOXLEY BEADE's contribution Fatty Morgana was unpublished before the release date but in the meanwhile it's the opener of their 2007 album 'Homogeneous Hump' which has got several good reviews. The song confirms the compliments - matured with a special mix of folk and psych/kraut elements. Another heavier orientation with good guitar and organ work follows played by the german FANTASYY FACTORYY. I-H8 CAMERA is a side-project of DEUS' Craig Ward and performs live a raw and experimental perspective of sound with Jeroen's Song. Finally the promising german band KARMIC SOCIETY with Dark Star Jam is to emphasize - at this time supported by DRAGONWYCK's Tom Brehm. You can listen to a live song which is really well performed with great twin guitar work supported by Rimbach-Sator's organ reflecting a fusion of the early westcoast spirit and krautrock.

A compilation with a reasonable bandwidth which is not only interesting for Psychedelic fans - 3.5 stars.
