Review by Sean Trane
SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Prog Folk
3 stars Describing a post rock is still quite tough for this writer, especially when these groups usually take on the GYBE! and Tarentel sound. Indeed the Morlanwez quartet has the typical guitary sound that appeared to be the norm in the mid to late 90's Post rock, but took its roots from U2's The Edge's typical string twanging born from the Joshua Tree period. The main feature in Cecilia::Eyes is the unusual freedom given to their drummer, although the loudness he's also mixed in the music might just be as striking a feature as well.

Most of the album, originally thought to be a demo only, but soon gaining a full-fledged album status is made from a straight-ahead no-frills post rock with the usual gloom and doom ambiances, except in the unusual Airscrew, where a young friend answering by the Lovera name comes tossing on both parts of the track, her voices sounding like a cross of Lauper and Bangles with some Tori Amos along the lines. The album's last track One Million Whale will be reworked in their nest album Mountain Tops.

If Post Rock is your thing, no doubt either of Cecilia::Eyes' albums will please you. If you're a more casual fan, you might see a lesser interest, but both remain a typical genre's average album.
