2 stars 2.5 really

Dendura is an unnoticed progressive metal band from Mitchigan - USA with one album released so far in 2006 and named New life. I stumble upon this one while searching for some prog metal bands who are totaly unknow and with almost zero chance for afirmation and I found Dendura. At first listning I was not very impresed, almost rough and unpolished prog metal with less variatons of this genre, not really bad but nothing spectacular either. The main attraction is the egyptian and lebanese descent the female voice Aziza Amy Poggi, she is everything here, if she were not in this band then not even this rate don't deasearve this album. She has a powerfull range very strong fits perfectly in this style. The music is not band but with lack of imagination, I mean this music was 25 years ago the same, not very much new ideas here. The musicianship is ok, some nice passages on Symphony with interluded moments with her keyboards, she is aswell the keyboard player of the band, the rest of the tracks are only ok to mediocre in places. The best I can give in this context is 2 stars, in other places fits more like 2.5 , not entirely bad , but without anything that will grab my attention more then 2 spins. Maybe the next album will be better if will be a next oen. Dendura sounds very much alike with another progressive metal band from USA The Ottoman Empire and their album Way of the blade from 2006, but the latest are a little better.
