5 stars If this is Math-Rock, count me in as a genre's fan, ha-ha!

Seriously, simply one of the best albums ever released in the Post-Rock/Math-Rock genre. Known for mellow mood and 'quiet -> loud' structure cliche, Post-Rock has always been something spiritual (for genre's fans) yet boring (for others). This spiritual boredom is a remarkable feature of many releases, even such grinding stones as MOGWAI ones. NEIL ON IMPRESSION has nothing common with boredom whatsoever. Still, it's not that quirky Math-Rock stuff, built around one riff, which is played in different signature/tempo variations. I can clearly hear Italian Prog's heritage in 'The Perfect Tango', mainly LOCANDA DELLE FATE's manner of crossing guitar and piano lines. On the other hand, one of the guitarists plays in hardcore/emo band RIEN, and this is pretty noticeable, when NEIL ON IMPRESSION gets heavy and speedy. Blurring lines between Math-Rock's amazing proggyness and Post-Rock's emotional deep, 'The Perfect Tango' serves as a paragon of pure musical beauty and harmony (this 'The Silent Glance of Andromeda' track is simply gorgeous in this terms!). Extremely recommended!!!
