3 stars Something is a very good song from the very often underrated (by others, never by myself) George Harrison. It is one of the greatest love songs that I have heard, and even Frank Sinatra (who also sang this song for a time) said that it is one of the best love songs of all time but even him didn`t know that was a Harrison`s song (he thought for a time that it was a Lennon / McCartney song!). Even McCartney said that it was the best song from the Abbey Road album and Lennon said in one of his last interviews that he suggested to release the song as a single (even if he say that he didn`t participate in the recording of the song, one thing that he very often did when a Harrison`song was recorded by the band between 1968 and 1970). It has very good guitar parts and a very good orchestral arrangement.

The B-side, Come Together, is a Lennon`s song which has lyrics about simultaneous orgasm! It is a very good song too, played mostly like a Blues song.

3 stars 'Something' - The Beatles (Single)

While it seems that George Harrison's songwriting skills and presence in the Beatles were often overshadowed by the likes of Lennon and McCartney, the truth is that he is reponsble for the penship of some of the most beautiful Beatles songs they ever did. This song in particular, 'Something' has long been one of my favourites, and arguably my favourite song that the man wrote during his career. It's very laid back, but the flanger-laiden guitar riffs and the melody work so well together, it's a real highlight of the band's career.

The other track here 'Come Together' has never been huge for me, but it's certainly memorable and has another great solo from Harrison towards the end.

'Something' is a truly beautiful song, and the Beatles' best love song arguably... And that's quite a feat considering their career was packed with them!
