Review by Conor Fynes
PROG REVIEWER
3 stars 'Promo '08' - Cynic (Single)

After a fourteen year wait, Cynic fans were very pleasantly surprised to have a new album coming out for them. I am personally of the belief that 'Traced In Air' is has been one of the greatest metal records of the past decade, overshadowing 'Focus' in virtually every respect, and with that in mind, the promotional for this modern classic is also very good. Featuring two songs from the album, these two songs also happen to be two of the less immediate pieces on the album, although they are certainly very enjoyable from the first listen onwards. Although anyone looking for a more in-depth look at the music should find a review for the full 'Traced In Air' album, it is safe to say that the music here is both technical and melodic at the same time, also staying very true to the signature sound of Cynic that fans have come to love.

Especially in the case of 'Adam's Murmur', these tracks are both very good, although it is hard to give this a full recommendation to check out if the full album is available. Instead, this is more a collector's item, but 'Promo '08' features two great songs that I'm sure I would have been elated over, had I heard this before the actual album was released in 2008.
