Review by Kazuhiro
PROG REVIEWER
3 stars High performance of his technology of the feature and the talent of the music character of Lenny White of course. And, the talent in respect of the arrangement as production and the composer was projected to the work.

Especially, the directionality of the music that he had done since "Return To Forever" showed respect with diversity indeed. He goes in the 70's ..it.. and it ..street point.. doesn't pass with the derivation of the creation of coming Music. The part where one establishment to Jazz/Fusion that derived in "29" that is own band in the 70's was built up gradually shows wide.

The existence of "Jamaica Boys" might be famous for the fan of the listener and Lenny White. The exchange of old friend's Marcus Miller and Bernard Wright offered the extension of the field further as music with diversity. The musician who was always taking the part of POP, Rock, and Funk in the flow that shifted in the item of Jazz/Fusion in the 90's in the 80's might have existed. And, indeed original as for Lenny White music is created and the absorbed element. These were consistent with originality. The work and the idea that a surrounding musician who besieged him had created might have derived gradually of course in the 90's, too.

This album is announced in 1995. It did not limit to Jazz/Fusion and there might have been a part of one attempt and saturation for music at this time. It was indeed a delicate time for music. And, it is also true to have challenged music where musicians who were participating in this album also caught the idea and the age. Especially, the part where the element of Funk and Hip had twined round smoothness Jazz and Jazz might have been done at this time. The content of "Tales" that Marcus Miller announced at the same time as this album and the comparison of these albums will be able to be considered by catching the age. Or, "Miles 2 Go" that "Buckshot LeFonque" and Mark Ledford announced flows. Or, the expression of the music character that added the part of Hip such as "Soul Insider" that Bill Evans had announced might already have caught Lenny White. It is a content with which a lot of ages are exactly blocked in this album that invites various musicians and old friend as the guest and was recorded. However, the creation of him who has the technology enough as a drum player will never stay in the part of simple Jazz/Fusion and Hip-Hop. The musician who exactly had the technology might be ..Music who has the created age.. finished.

"Thick" is Groove that the team of Marcus Miller makes in union with Lenny White. The flow of good Jazz Funk that adds a transparent feeling to a few Hip and Funk is shown. The performance of Michael Brecker is indeed steady. And, Bernard Wright and Dean Brown also contribute to the tune.

"East St. Louis" is a tune dedicated to Miles Davis. The theme that it puts on the rhythm processed by the program and the trumpet is good twines. There might exactly be an age. Atmosphere with a good piano obbligati is produced. The part of Rap that appears after continuing atmosphere also expands the width of the tune.

"Who Do You Love" is a tune of which the part of POP and Funk has gone out. Might it put on the song of Chaka Khan that makes a good melody and an advanced rhythm have a good flow. Sound and chorus of keyboard with diversity. And, Violin of Michal Urbaniak also contributes.

"Door#3" has the flow that the part of Blues is mixed with Funk. Sound of glossy Kenny Garrett. And, the line of Bass of Victor Bailey that catches music from the angle besides Marcus Miller. Atmosphere indeed gives the relief. And, the work of Chick Corea and Dean Brown has expanded the width of this tune.

"Sweet Tooth" is a tune of Victor Bailey. It is a tune that added an anacatesthesia and a complex melody to the rhythm that multiuses the demiquaver and Syncopation. Victor Bailey is revived by "Low Blow" that oneself announced this tune in 1999. The theme that appears one after another might progress Chord of good Jazz/Fusion. Obbligati that Chick Corea makes. And, original Solo of John Scofield. This tune might have the quality as Jazz/Fusion.

As for "Wolfbane", the atmosphere of a part of an Oriental melody and smooth Jazz is produced. It is possible to listen to the capability of the musician who gathers exactly. The sound of Solo and Chick Corea of John Scofield is offering originality and the stability as a result.

"Tea In The Sahara" It is a famous tune by Sting. Atmosphere that there are an anacatesthesia and a transparent feeling in the rhythm processed by the program is added. Song that Nicki Richards is good. And, the good piano obbligati that Gil Goldstein makes. The selection unified to the taste of the musician who participated exactly might be a part of the sensibility of Lenny white. And, the sensibility of Chick Corea that performs this tune. Atmosphere continues.

The sensibility of Lenny White to make good use of the program shines in "Dark". It is finished with the anacatesthesia that flows slowly ..making the sound in which the age is caught... Solo of Stanley Clarke to get on a little heavy atmosphere also gives originality and the stability.

"And Then You'll Know" makes the flow with good sound of Michael Brecker in close relation to the part of a good anacatesthesia. And, Pete Levin that produces a transparent feeling is a brother of Tony Levin. Piano Solo of gloss. Line of good Bass. Atmosphere has the flow of smooth Jazz.

"By Any Means Necessary" is a tune where the song of Jean McClain and Mark Ledford stands out. There might be atmosphere of R&B. Melody of vibraphone from which sampling is given. Rhythm that produces part of Hip-Hop. The composition will be able to be improved.

A good combination of Michael Brecker and Marcus Miller shines in "Two Weeks In Another Town". Part and transparent feeling of melody that is reminiscent of part of Weather Report a little. And, it flows by giving the rhythm of a little Latin. The tune has the atmosphere of smooth Jazz. Solo of Marcus Miller produces a good flow.

The gloss of Sax that Danny Walsh performs to the rhythm of Funk that flows slowly twines round "The Shadow Of Lo". The part of the rhythm and the melody that catches the age has a good flow.

"Caprice" is a tune where the arrangement of Chick Corea shines. Part of brain melody that is reminiscent of part of Return To Forever. Transparent feeling that Gil Goldstein makes. Flow of a little unusual as combination Chick Corea and John Scfield. The capability of the musician who perfectly processes the complex melody developed one after another might be splendid.

This album having been made by musicians who had the capability might have been exactly offered with the introduction and the flexibility of a variety of music characters. It will be able to know the sensibility of Lenny White, the part of production, and the ability of the arrangement again.
