4 stars My introductory listen to Jon Hassell after having been an Eno fan for a few years. While his true genius became more appreciated with "Fourth World Vol.2, Malayan Dream Theory," "Ambient 2: Plateaux of Mirror," the "WOMAD" collection, and, especially, David Sylvian's "Brillliant Trees," I loved this album. Plus, any recorded music with even the presence of Percy Jones has got me hook, line and sinker. Jon Hassel's trumpet sound is the most intriguing, pleasant, and unique 'aberration' of any traditional musical instrument I've ever heard. "Malay" and "Weathered Wall" two of the most durable, exotic, and breathtaking songs I've ever had the good fortune of encountering--and this EVERY time I hear them!
