BIRTH

Again, I feel like I need to make the point that any one artist who records so much music in such a short amount of time is bound to have some duds in the collection. This, I'm afraid, seems like one of those duds, in my opinion.

As the case usually is with Phrozenlight's more ambient music, this album is uneventful and almost not even atmospheric at all. It's all dark and slightly dissonant, but not experimental or really enjoyable. Occasionally, soft resonances will appear from the distance, which is backed by a very faint dissonant melody while a constant drone or empty, damp air cloud the mix. Birth really would be bad if the drones weren't so thick and overpowering, instead giving more power to the more important resonance and experiment sounds - this is what made Passion; Crucifixion & Resurrection such a good listen.

I suppose Birth would be a good album to listen to on low volume while letting your sleepy head drift off to sleep, but other than for that purpose, this album isn't really enjoyable. Of course, that's only my opinion; anyone else may absolutely love this album, particularly fans of this kind of ambience. I, unfortunately, am not one of those fans.
