3 stars Motherland is Daedalus third album so far released in 2011 and to me is less intresting their previous one. Overall keeping the same attitude and manner of composing, Daedalus here in some parts sounds like a melodic power metal band, the progressive metal elements being only here and there. Shorter pieces, the complexity of the arrangements are little easier here, but with all that the overall album is not bad only is unitresting. The best tune is to me the instrumental Weather the Storm, they have quite good skills here, and the ideas are more then ok, complex enough with all instruments involved at the full capacity will please all prog metal fans for sure. The rest of the pieces even are not bad, are only ok, they play corectly but without shining moments. 3 stars is best I can give. To mention, again invited guests here, Roland Grapow from Masterplan fame who again mixing the album and has the guitar solo on Underground piece and the keyboardist from Il Tempio delle Clessidre.
