DRINK THE SUN

'Drink The Sun' is the first full-fledged EIDETIC SEEING album - and they have refined the style, overall it drifts into a heavier direction here. We are in a comfortable situation, even with the possibility to compare, as Sean Forlenza and his band mates have reworked three tracks for this production which already had a place on their debut EP. For a quick summary this means that the space rock substance takes a backseat towards a stronger heavy psych, stoner and doom sentiment in the vein of White Hills, La Otracina ... yes, even augmented by Black Sabbath impressions here and there.

Genre typical the songs are predominantly instrumental, otherwise the rare vocals are presented in a way which comes rather agressive, echoed and distorted. To name one of these aforementioned three exemplars, Deep Falafel Prophet features great dynamics as well as a mix of echoed and crunchy guitar turbulences - certainly improved in comparison to the first attempt. And then supreme importance when it comes to the shifty Primeribneon-Waves And Radiation - what a great verve and creativeness - bassist Danilo Coleman cares for a hell of a groove and they also freak out in between, especially drummer Paul Feitzinger.

If you like a substantial cocktail mixed by fuzzy guitars, rumbling bass and restless drums you're on the right track hereby. Although I liked their eponymous EP due to the outstanding couple 'Hebrew Scrabble/Hush' this album is surely matured concerning outworking and production. The compositions are varied, Sean Forlenza's guitar appears more tricky in general, the synths are well-placed, the rhythm section acts lively throughout. Overall a recommended effort which deserves your attention.
