VITAL SIGNS

End of Silence aka EOS was a Santiago-based Chilean band, formed in 1998 as a trio with German Flores on vocals/guitar/keyboards, Marcel Salazar on bass and Rodrigo Andalaft on drums, the later was a member of the obscure Neo Prog act Dwalin.It appears they put up a demo around 1999, before launching their debut and only album ''Vital signs'' in 2001, recorded at their own studio and featuring one Igor Ledermann on piano/keyboards, one of the very first productions of Mylodon Records.

The band cited RUSH and Pink Floyd as their main influences, I can't feel much vibes of the later in their production, but I do certainly hear a ton of RUSH'es incredible power and lyricism in most of their tunes.First thing to mention are the excellent vocals of German Flores, all sung in English with abscence of any Spanish-accented traces.As for the music, while this is far from flexible or extraordinary, this offers enjoyable tracks, close to TILES, with many rhythmic changes, changing climates and impressive solos, often surrounded by soft electric passages or even some acoustic moments.RUSH circa-''Permanent waves'' is a good comparison, the album holds a strong vocal depth all the way, featuring a guitar-driven sound with memorable choruses but also impressive instrumental dynamics, solidified by a confindent bassist and a steady drummer.While some tracks are credited with keyboards, I can't hear much of them in the album apart from some keyboard programming in a couple of them, where the hell is the rest?Anyway, the material is pretty cool, even if the guitar-based style doesn't allows much of a diversity, and the band ends up to be one of the fairest RUSH mimes in the league.

EOS remained around for sometime, they even opened a facebook page, but the band is certain to have dissolved since many years.Igor Ledermann later become involved in the local Experimental/Folk act Fractal.

Rhythmic RUSH-inspired Power Rock with great vocals and guitar work.Anyone into the style should track this down.Recommended.
