2 stars PIKE 192 - 15 DAYS TIL HALLOWEEN: GROTESQUES is the 91st album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015 and the 17th installment in the countdown to HALLOWEEN. Continuing the theme of HALLOWEEN brings us another dark ambient freaky soundtrack to bring the utmost spookiness to mind. All sounds brought to you by BUCKETHEAD and this PIKE clocks in just 17 seconds over the half hour mark. There are 7 tracks all titled "Grotesques."

This one starts with a high buzzing note that almost sounds like a laser beam zipping through the air. It continues with airy keyboards and swirling background ambience. This is very much another PIKE that has nothing musical to offer but just a bunch of random noises. While sometimes this has been done brilliantly, this is another one that simply seems like i'm in outer space and soundsw are like particles randomly floating by but unlike a nice spot in an interesting galaxy this is more like an asteroid belt where everything pretty much resembles everything else.

Not much to say about this one other than i'm a tad underwhelmed. It is okay as background music but i'm not finding it particularly scary or conducive to a HALLOWEEN party and it is not in the least bit GROTESQUES. It is simply a half hour ambient trip that doesn't ever get started. Rather disappointing but then again there's always another PIKE to check out.
