4 stars To replace your worn out LP

Paladin recorded only two albums before folding. Both are included here on this lavishly packaged double CD. The sleeve understandably mirrors their second album "Charge" with its Roger Dean artwork, giving no obvious indication that their first self-titled album is also included.

Musically, the first album was somewhat rough and ready, and lacked any real direction. "Charge" however was a classic piece of early 70's prog, and benefits greatly from the remastering and transfer to CD. The slightly muffled sound of the original LP has been transformed completely making this a wonderful audio experience.

A plethora of bonus tracks have also been added, although in truth these are of only limited interest, being in the main alternative versions of tracks on the albums. An excellent double CD set.
