4 stars Another glamorous world. I can hear lots of so-called progressive elements like psychedelic, electronic, or art rock-ish polarities, with some shoegaze flavours and catchy tips. "Mycelium Days" was released this autumn as the debut full- length album by an Oslo-based new quartet YOBREPUS (pronounced Superboy according to their words), featuring the eponymous masterpiece. They say YOBREPUS have been inspired by various progressive rock projects like Pink Floyd or King Crimson, and authentic rock legends like The Beatles. This album, massively influenced by the pioneers' sounds and visions, amazes us enthusiastically and lyrically. The formation of this album reminds us of the similarity to Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother" or "Meddle", with one magnificent suite and some catchy tracks. The last 5 pieces are enjoyable, not so progressive though. Mysterious electronic atmosphere is fully featured in "Wangari", my love.

The over 22 minute titled suite is splendid. The opening is quite majestic, blended with fuzzy garage-y surface and symphonic basis. Such a combination drives us into excitation. Slowtempo hallucinogenic melodic canyon in the same vein of Echoes (just as they've mentioned) is our relaxation. Heavy components are pretty deep and rich especially in the middle part. Slightly metallic guitars' explosion might have got connected to "Red" by the golden trio of King Crimson. The last phase definitely has grandness just like Echoes. Something like a psychological residual effect is infiltrated into our inner minds, and this auditory aura takes our heart and does not let go.

Anyway the sleeve is fascinating too.
