Review by Warthur
PROG REVIEWER
4 stars More poetic, disquieting apocalyptic folk from the premier purveyors of the form, with the usual combination of beautiful acoustic instrumentation backed with lurking electronic chaos. There is a certain tranquility to this one; the franticness of earlier Current 93 works has given way to, if not acceptance, at least resignation. The more apocalyptic overtones of the likes of Lucifer Over London or Black Ships Ate the Sky has largely given way here to a more low-key approach; what if the apocalypse never comes but we have to live in a constantly declining world in its stead? As usual, it's melancholic stuff; take in light doses and make sure to ruminate carefully.
