3 stars This latest Barrdo album is yet another surprise in his discography. Here, the predominant style seems to be country music. The compositions are still very rich. The string and brass arrangements are lovely and bring a nice depth to the album. The lyrics are interesting, albeit very personal.

My favorite tracks are the short instrumental "Jour inouï" (3.5/5) and the soaring "Tabarnak" (4/5). Psychedelic as can be, I wish the latter lasted longer! By the way, these are the only tracks without any country aspects.

The other eight tracks are all good (3/5), but nothing earth-shattering. Just something pleasant to listen to. Simple but effective. I'm one of those people who prefers more adventurous releases, such as last year's fantastic double album "Équivoques", but I like to listen to lighter stuff from time to time.

Rumor says that this album is Barrdo's penultimate. It's a shame because it's a project I love.
