3 stars This record was released under the name of 'David La Flamme Band' , but after a listen I thought it was justified to file it under IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY. For one IABD was David La Flamme's brainchild and for legal reasons David La Flamme can't use the band name anymore. Three of the founding members are united here and a great part of the songs are from the first IABD record. Now,the cover of 'beyond dreams' is a reference to the famous first 'IABD' album cover,a young lady with a summer hat on the top of a windy mountain. Now 35 years later the young lady has taken her hat off and sits comfortably in the shade of a tree(avoiding the ozon concentration). Back to the music! What is on the menu: Four tracks from the first IEBD record. It is always difficult to re-record such classic tracks especially with the missing voice of late Pattie Santos, still these remain great songs. Linda La Flamme, who sings lead on 'Girl with no eyes' is not very convincing, neither is 'White bird' , but the instrumental 'Bombay calling' and 'Time is' don't suffer so much from the comparaison. The better surprises come from the two tracks which David LaFlamme had already released on solo records ('Swept away' & 'Who's gonna love me') and three new tracks, especially 'Swept away' and 'Santa Cruz' (my favourite track ).Both instrumentals are good jazz-rock compositions which feature the violin skills of David LaFlamme.
