Special Collaborator Honorary Collaborator / Band Submissions

4 stars ALDENFIELD was formed by Howard Helm (keyboards) and Jim Morris (guitars) several years ago. Both are prolific studio respectively touring musicians for diverse wellknown artists. The line-up also sees Ruben Drake on bass and Mark Prator behind the drum set. After many years in the making they now could fulfill their goal to release an album completely comprised of self-written compositions. The quartet have recorded a concept album 'which takes the listener on a journey through potential end times as seen and told by seven people in different parts of the world'. A rather opportune theme, in these globalized times in particular, isn't it?

The comic art on the front cover may not really tease you, the music though is well worth the check for sure. The eight given songs are dominated by heavy progressive elements, partially getting close to bands like Tiles, Orpheus Nine, Odd Logic. Helm and Morris are equipped with a proper singing voice too. A fruitful collaboration, especially guitars and keys are perfectly complementing. So this is really multi-varianted, entertaining, groovy and highly melodic rock stuff which impresses me the more I'm listening. Decorated with a jazzy interlude and further twists and turns Going Nowhere currently marks my album highlight. Very well done, folks!

5 stars A concept album, that takes the listener on a journey through potential end times as seen and told by seven people in different parts of the world... This is the first release of American prog rockers Aldenfield. This album is written and produced by veteran studio/touring musicians Howard Helm and Jim Morris. The time is the present. The location is everywhere. These are seven souls in search of an exit Shipped in a jewel case with a six page foldout. Cover Art by Sam Conable This is a really good album, enough to be included in my annual top ten list. The album is very mature, every song is wonderful, I was very intoxicated, music is very strong, melodic, I was watching the lyrics, they are fun, cover art reminds me of the traditional American comics, seems to be in That robots chase mankind, or Judicial Day and the like, very sci-fi atmosphere, music is also true, it has a sense of science fiction, I really like.
Thanks to rdtprog for the artist addition. and to Quinino for the last updates
