Review by ssmarcus

4 stars The second installment in a two-part concept album, 'Odyssey' utilizes hard hitting deathcore and poetic Pain of Salvation like spoken word to advance a story about a man who leaves his allegedly spiritually stunted wife to find God. The album initially did not receive much attention due to the album's odd release. Leaked by two of the band members against the wishes of the main song writer who, apparently, had hopes for re-recording it with a different band, the album was all but ignored by the establishment at the time of its release. Eventually, critics and fans caught on and hardly a reddit thread on recommended prog metal goes by without Slice the Cake being mentioned. The album's late cult-like hype is certainly deserved and is sure to shake metal fans of all-stripes.
Thanks to bonnek for the artist addition.
