Neptunite biography
Founded in 2017

NEPTUNITE is a studio project comprised of Tim Diern, Marc Schröder (keyboards, programming) and Guido Poetzel (guitar), residing in different German regions like Berlin, as well as the Ruhr and Münster area. Having fun with the prog is their common denominator. It was around 25 years ago when Diem and Schröder met in Berlin for the first time. Being inspired by the classics soon the idea came up to set Novalis 'Hymns To The Night' into music, in the vein of the Kosmische Musik tradition. Ideas, concepts and preferences changed over the years, without having concrete results though, and the orientation evolved towards progressive rock music more and more.

2017 then saw Poetzel entering the team. Finally their debut album 'Sensor', released in 2020, showcases a rather multifaceted blend of progressive electronics, kraut and art rock with a modern twist and signature sound. Different genres fuse into a multitude of suspense build ups and cooling offs, demanding the listener to explore new details every time they engage in the journey they are taken on. With a regular bass player and drummer involved a new album is already in the planning.

4 stars Nowadays it's not an easy task anymore to find a memorable band name. This necessarily also must correspond with some successful music output. Then you are on the right path. Their debut album 'Sensor' delivers a splendid blend of progressive styles. Kosmische electronics are available of course, but also psych, symphonic and art rock. NEPTUNITE is comprised of three members who are residing in different German regions. Marc Schröder and Tim Diern (keyboards, programming) are knowing each other for quite some time. It was 2017, guitarist Guido Poetzel then joined the project, and they started to produce their first album, not based on a (still?) regular studio environment. The result is a really compelling effort of roundabout 80 minutes playing time.

The flow, the kraut beat, the opening Binaural partially reminds of Trees Speak. But just for the difference, there are more suspense build ups and cooling offs included on the other hand. Overall seen they are providing a charming mood anyhow, mostly pure relaxation, some exceptions prove the rule of course. Tactile Perception for example nearly reaches the thirty minute border, nevertheless this epic symphony comes just like a natural-based medical treatment against boredom and fatigue. Sensitive acoustic and electric guitar playing all over, and you're always inclined to hear an acoustic drum kit involved. Well, I find it rather difficult to name a similar music act concerning approach and execution. This band definitely deserves a lot more attention.

Thanks to rivertree for the artist addition.
