Heyoka's Mirror biography
HEYOKA'S MIRROR is a Calgary, Alberta, Canada based progressive rock/metal band with international roots which was brought to life in the summer of 2015 by founding members Andrew BALBOA and Omar SULTAN, later that year joined by drummer Bayan SHARAFI. The band played their first show in the winter of 2015, a talent showcase/competition organized by Landmark Events, which the band won! Rahbek SALOMONS filled in for bass guitar for these shows and helped the band win and get their music out to Calgary and surrounding areas. Rahbek SALOMANS and HEYOKA'S MIRROR parted ways shortly after that.

Meanwhile, Andrew and Omar kept writing music for their first EP "Loss of Contact With Reality" which was released on December 4, 2017. At the end of 2018, drummer Bayan SHARAFI left the band to follow his career, but he still contributes as a guest musician. During 2019, Andrew and Omar finished writing the first full-length album and began recording with the help of Casey LEWIS and Johnny KERR on drums, and Brendan ROTHWELL on bass at Echo Base Studios. The album "The Uninvited King" was released on March 6, 2021.

Their music has been compared to DREAM THEATER, Steve VAI, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, and AYREON.

5 stars After one EP this little unknown band from Canada has made his first full-length album. Yes, this is another progressive metal band that draws influence from Dream Theater with the constant twist and turns and some song structures and overall sound, but there is a lot more that makes them quite unique. First the versatility of the vocals with some low growls, then some really heavy guitar riffs make their music something comparable to a more extreme metal band, but also the clean, falsetto vocals and the symphonic arrangements make this band difficult to classify. There is a kind of genious insanity in their music, that is taken us by surprise with each turn. It's groovy, bombastic with that double bass, that fast drum parts, and that creative guitar riffs. The versatility of the vocals are incredible and the way the singer shouts, you can find a similarity with Slipknot in that era and as some guitar riffs. Then when you didn't have enough surprise, they change the pace of the song into a brief relaxing mood with a delicate guitar part and a gentle vocal moment. Then when least expected, in the song ''Deal with the Devil'', through all that heavy atmosphere you hear a harmonica at the end of the song. The album ends up in a great fashion this perfect album of Progressive metal with ''Celebration of Life''. This album is heavy, melodic, and ambitious, you have to take a listen to get an idea of how their music sound.
