The Black Cat's Eye biography
German band The Black Cat's Eye was formed back in 2018 with their base of operations being Frankfurt am Main. With a shared affection for fuzzed out psychedelic rock dating back to the 1960's and 70's, Christian Blaser (guitars, vocals), Wolfgang Schönecker (guitars), Steffen Ahrens (guitars), Jens Cappel (bass) and Stefan Schulz-Anker (drums, percussion) have explored their particular and progressive take on the form on one EP and one full length album so far, with the EP "The Black Cat's Eye EP" appearing at the start of 2019 and the album "The Empty Space Between A Seamount And Shock-Headed Julia" released in the spring of 2023.

3 stars 1. Kill the Sun and the Moon and the Stars ... long psychedelic prog, or stoner suite, in short on a resolutely modern sound, for this vintage sound but not only that leaves you dreaming between ethereal psychedelia and soaring post rock, for its finale of the last quarter admirably flirting with a PINK FLOYD title, yes the world is small; well no dissecting, just the pleasure of seeing 20 pass in just 5, prodigious!!

2. Katla changes radically with a snarling riff; heavy psychedelic stoner, a title that can irritate; the windy break to end on a more academic tune 3. Winter Song starts with the Floydian nursery rhymes of the 'Meedle' genre, gentle, disaffected, not causing any waves, consensual in view of our current times 4. In My Dreams the Wind Chases Away the Clouds changes by taking up a crescendic syncopated tune with the notion of latency that makes you jump; alternative prog rock; the cool airy solo with slide guitar which reverberates the ambient air, for an old return of psychedelic atmospheres, what would PINK FLOYD have done if they had continued in their initial pattern? 5. Lostlostlostlostlostlostlostlost with this title we expect metronomic otherwise what is the point??? A refined rock track that goes from LOU REED to BOWIE from 'Heroes' for the hesitant rhythm between calm rock and subversive rock; a nod to a bygone era today unfortunately. An album which is worth for its first perfect side juggling between a soaring progressive atmosphere and Floydian psychedelic rock with the hypothetical sound of today.

Thanks to gordy for the artist addition.
